You may have heard that Scottie Reynolds scored 36 points, 30 in the second half, to lead No. 4 Villanova to a comeback win over Louisville on Monday. This evening, as sixth-ranked Purdue hosts Ohio State, attempting to rebound from their first loss of the season, Robbie Hummel is certainly doing his part.
Last Night It Was Scottie Reynolds, Tonight Robbie Hummel
↵In the first half, Hummel scored 29, including 18 points in a four and a half minute span. During the half, Hummel connected on eight of his 10 three-point attempts. For those of you who are mathematically-challenged, that’s 80 percent.
↵The Boilermakers took a 41-29 lead into the locker room at the break. That’s right, Robbie Hummel scored as many as the entire Buckeye team.
↵In the second half, the Purdue forward will have the opportunity to set the Big Ten record for threes in a game. Chris Hill owns that, as he hit 10 for Michigan State against Syracuse in 2003.
↵UPDATE: Hummel not only cooled off in the second half, he dislocated his left pinky, forcing a trip to the locker room.
