Miami went into Wednesday night’s game at Virginia Tech ranked 23rd in the AP poll, just ahead of ACC rivals Florida State and Clemson. The Seminoles lost last night to N.C. State and the Tigers host North Carolina later this evening.
Can We Just Kick Miami Out Of The Poll Now?
↵Even if Clemson joins FSU in defeat, they’ll both have a better chance at remaining in next week’s poll than the Hurricanes do, at least after the first half in Blacksburg.
↵Virginia Tech leads Miami, 50-23 at the break, though it could have been far worse. The Hokies actually led 48-13 with 1:52 left in the half. That’s when the Hurricanes’ Malcolm Grant hit a three to start a 10-2 run that closed that 35-point gap to a more manageable 27.
↵Unfortunately for Virginia Tech fans, and fortunately for Miami ones, this matchup is one of the few ACC contests that isn’t on television. I guess both fanbases will have to settle for watching Duke struggle at home against Boston College.
