Virginia Tech Uses Big First Half To Upset No. 23 Miami

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Malcolm Delaney went for 28 points and nine assists, as Virginia Tech produced a thorough beating of 23rd-ranked Miami- Florida, 81-66, at Cassell Coliseum.

Jeff Allen posted 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Terrell Bell went for 13 and eight for the Hokies (13-2, 1-1 ACC), who had a nine-game win streak broken with a 78-64 setback to North Carolina on Sunday.

Dorenzo Hudson chipped in 11 points as Virginia Tech beat the Hurricanes for a fourth straight time.

James Dews was the lone player in double figures with 11 points for the Hurricanes (15-2, 1-2), who were riding a seven-game win streak dating back to a one-point loss to Boston College in early December.

Dwayne Collins had nine points and nine rebounds in defeat as Miami-Florida shot a paltry 34.4 percent from the field to seal its fate. Malcolm Grant also scored nine points.
