Report: Carlos Beltran Undergoes Knee Surgery

According to Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman, the Mets’ Carlos Beltran had minor knee surgery on Wednesday -- possibly just a “scope clean up” -- and is expected to miss 8-12 weeks. He hopefully will be ready by Opening Day. That is actually the good news.

The bad news is that some sources are telling the New York Post's Joel Sherman that it was actually microfracture surgery. And that the Mets didn't know anything about it.

Beltran appeared in just 81 games last season, missing time due to a bone bruise behind his right knee cap.
