↵World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) kicked-off the New Year with its most ratings in several months, attracting 640,000 viewers for “Varner vs. Henderson,” which took place from the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif., on Jan. 10.
↵It’s a nice ratings bump, which is significantly more than the recent numbers the promotion and the network have been pulling in.
↵By comparison, WEC 45: “Cerrone vs. Ratcliff” — the promotion’s final event of 2009 — managed to only bring in 330,000 viewers. That’s more than double. And the promotion likely has the “California Kid” to thank for a juicy chunk of additional viewers.

↵If the promotion does follow through with Faber vs. Jose Aldo one would have to assume the promotion will be solidly behind Urijah as he is the only person on the roster to ever show the ability to be a consistent draw. A loss to Aldo would make him 0-3 against the top two men in his division and it would be hard to keep featuring him in the main event slot.
