When Kevin Kouzmanoff was set to make his debut with the San Diego Padres in 2006, the third baseman was heralded as a future star. Four years later, the Padres have elected to trade him to the Oakland Athletics.
Padres Deal Kouzmanoff To Athletics, Pick Up Hairston, Cunningham
The Padres and A’s have reportedly reached agreement on a deal that would send San Diego third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and a Minor League player to Oakland for outfielders Aaron Cunningham and former Padre Scott Hairston.
Hairston had a fantastic stint for the Padres in 2009, hitting .299 with 10 home runs in only 56 games before being sent to Oakland. Meanwhile, Kouzmanoff has been decidedly average over the past two seasons, having posted an OPS+ of 100 in both 2008 and 2009.
