During the second period of the New Jersey Devils/Colorado Avalanche game on Saturday night, Patrik Elias left the game on a stretcher after a hit by Ryan Wilson. Wilson hit Elias in the chin that knocked Elias unconcious for a short period of time. Elias was checked out after the game with a CT Scan and a X-ray and those tests were clear.

Devils player Mark Fraser had this to say after the game:
"It was just an unfortunate hit really," said Mark Fraser, who later fought Wilson. "He came around from a screen and Patty really never saw him coming. He had his head down. Maybe a little warning or a quick peak could have prevented that."
John Fischer from our Devils site, In Lou We Trust, had this to say about Elias’ effect on not being in the lineup:
In retrospect, the Devils really could have used Elias. His loss really shook up the team, especially from a lineup standpoint. Whereas my main complaint surrounding the recent losses to Tampa Bay and Phoenix has to do defensive breakdowns leading to the other team scoring, I can’t pin point the loss solely on that.White should not see retrobution from the league on this hit as many people agree that is was not dirty.
