Who Wants To Be Number One?

With Texas’ loss to Kansas State Monday night, we can be assured of a new No. 1 team next week (barring a flurry of unlikely events). So who wants it?

↵Kentucky - Next in line at No. 2, the Wildcats have a week to prepare for a Saturday home showdown with 8-9 Arkansas. Things look good.

↵Kansas - If by chance the Wildcats stumble, Kansas will have done enough to take back their former spot if they can beat No. 25 Baylor (14-2) on Wednesday and then 12-5 Iowa State on Saturday.

↵Villanova - The other Wildcats are currently No. 4 and have a cupcake kind of week, with a road swing at Rutgers (9-8) on Wednesday and St. John’s )12-5) on Saturday. It’s unlikely the dominoes will fall for them but if they do, they should be in good shape.

↵As for Syracuse, Duke and Michigan State, they’ll all need a lot of things to happen to make their climb. Maybe next week. In the meantime, just keep winning.
