No. 21 Ohio State Powers Past Northwestern
Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Evan Turner scored 20 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and handed out eight assists, as No. 21 Ohio State jumped on Northwestern early en route to a comfortable 76-56 Big Ten victory.
The Buckeyes (14-5, 4-3 Big Ten) stayed perfect at home and followed up wins over nationally-ranked Purdue and Wisconsin last week with an impressive 51.9 percent shooting effort on Tuesday.
Dallas Lauderdale chipped in 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting, while Jon Diebler checked in with 17 points and five assists in the lopsided win.
The Wildcats (13-5, 2-4), coming off a win over Purdue last Saturday, were paced by John Shurna's 22 points.
The hosts led wire-to-wire thanks to a 9-0 run to start the game.
Northwestern's Drew Crawford made a three-pointer to briefly stop the momentum, but the Buckeyes scored the next eight to go up 17-3 on a William Buford jumper less than seven minutes in.
The margin reached 31-11 on a David Lighty three-pointer near the six-minute mark, and the Wildcats were held to one field goal over the final five minutes of the half to trail 40-17 at the break.
The outcome was never in doubt in the second half.
Ohio State is 12-0 this season at home, where they have beaten Northwestern 27 straight times...Crawford netted 11 points for Northwestern, which shot 38.3 percent from the floor.
