Brock Lesnar and Dana White appeared on the 11am edition of ESPN’s Sportscenter to explain Brock’s health issues and his future. In the interview Lesnar explained that he was feeling ill leading up to the Carwin fight. He was diagnosed with mononucleosis which he claims he knew wasn’t right. Lesnar eventually ended up with a 104 temperature and was diagnosed with diverticulosis and had developed a hole in his stomach.
Brock Lesnar To Return Summer Of 2010, Possibly Fight Winner Of Carwin-Mir
A decision was made to not have a piece of his colon removed and instead they trusted Lesnar’s body to heal itself. He lost 40 pounds and continued to refuse surgery and began working out again. Brock has regained 30 pounds and there are no more signs of any problems in his stomach. Lesnar had another CT scan done yesterday and all doctors are now clearing him to fight as there is no sign of any problem.
Dana White explained that Shane Carwin v. Frank Mir remains an interim title bout and the winner will fight Lesnar over the summer. If Carwin/Mir does not happen then the bout between Antonio Rodrigo Noguea and Cain Velasquez will determine the next challenger to Lesnar’s crown.
So look for the UFC heavyweight champion to return to action this summer.
