I had very high hopes for last year’s inaugural H.O.R.S.E. (sponsored by Geico, so really, G.E.I.C.O.) competition at All-Star Weekend. I mean, NBA players do awesome trick shots in practice, so why not have them compete against each other on a big stage?
H.O.R.S.E. Returning To All-Star Weekend, Hopefully With Better Contestants
↵What resulted, unfortunately, was a disappointment. O.J. Mayo, Joe Johnson and Kevin Durant clanked jumper after jumper outside until it finally became a bad three-point shooting contest. Nevertheless, the NBA is bringing H.O.R.S.E. back and moving it to prime time on Saturday night, according to a TNT press release:
↵↵The network also announced today that H.O.R.S.E. presented by GEICO will return and will now be featured in prime time on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. (ET). The competition will showcase three NBA players challenging each other with thrilling moves and creative shot-making skills in a classic basketball competition. Participants for the event will be announced at a later date.
↵↵Nice! Here’s hoping it stays indoors with a better field. As for the contestants? They’re oldies, but you gotta include Antawn Jamison and Steve Nash for their unorthodox shots. Two down, one to go.
