No. 12 Georgetown Visits No. 9 Pitt In Key Big East Clash
Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Chris Wright scored a game-high 27 points, as No. 12 Georgetown defeated ninth-ranked Pittsburgh, 74-66, snapping the Panthers’ 31-game winning streak at the Petersen Events Center.
Greg Monroe totaled 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Hoyas (14-3, 5-2 Big East), who have won three of their last four games. Austin Freeman also contributed 13 points for Georgetown, which handed Pittsburgh its first conference loss, leaving Villanova as the lone unbeaten team in the Big East.
Gilbert Brown scored 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting for the Panthers (15-3, 5-1), who had won eight straight since a loss to Indiana on December 8. Jermaine Dixon logged 14 points, while Brad Wanamaker finished with nine points, 13 boards and seven assists in defeat.
