Most teams have an “X-factor”. That’s the euphemism for a talented if enigmatic player who a team needs to play well to win. For Georgetown, as SB Nation’s Casual Hoya points out, that player is point guard Chris Wright:
Casual Hoya: As Chris Wright Goes, So Goes Georgetown
Chris Wright led the Hoyas with 27 points on 11-17 shooting. With Austin Freeman in foul trouble and Greg Monroe having an off night, Wright carried the Hoyas with tremendous outside shooting and strong drives to the rim. We at Casual Hoya firmly believe Georgetown will only go far in the tournament if Chris Wright plays efficient basketball. This year the Hoyas are 13-0 when Wright scores in double figures and 1-3 when he doesn’t. […]
Georgetown had a tremendous win tonight, pushing its record to 14-3 (5-2). In the most shocking statistic of the night, the Hoyas outrebounded Pittsburgh, which hasn’t happened since the 1930s or so.
