It’s been anything but a typical basketball season in Westwood.
Don’t Look Now, But UCLA Is Back In The Pac-10 Race
↵The campaign started with a loss Cal State Fullerton, then got worse with an 0-3 trip to the 76 Classic, which featured another loss to a Big West school, the now-struggling Long Beach State 49ers.
↵Not long after the fiasco in Anaheim. center Drew Gordon decided to transfer after he was suspended from practice for two days.
↵However, with the Pac-10 being a bit down this year, the Bruins are starting to show that they’re perfectly capable of being a factor in the league race.
↵Today’s 74-62 win over Washington State pushed the UCLA’s overall mark to just 9-10 overall. However, the Bruins are now 4-3 in the conference.
↵That’s only a game behind 5-2 Cal (and Arizona State, provided if they can beat in-state rival Arizona tonight) for the Pac-10 lead.
↵If you would have told me that this would be the case while I was sitting in the Anaheim Arena watching UCLA play for 7th place back on November 29th, I would’ve said “You’re nuts.”
↵But considering how unpredictable, and bad, the Pac-10 has been so far this season, maybe a bit of craziness is required to analyze the race for the league crown.
