Never take a double-digit lead for granted in the Big East, especially if you find yourself up on the road against a top-shelf opponent.
In The Big East, No Lead Is Safe
↵Georgetown should know this. After all, they came back from 19 down to beat UConn back on January 9th in Washington.
↵In the first half of tonight’s game at Syracuse, the Hoyas jumped out to a 14-0 lead, thanks to a five-for-five start from the field that included a quartet of threes, including a trio from Austin Freeman.
↵With 2:18 left in the first half, after two free throws from Wes Johnson (who else?), the Orange took a 30-29 lead.
↵Syracuse turned the defense on when they found themselves in a hole, and they’ve forced turnovers aplenty. The Hoyas gave the ball away 10 times in the half, compared to five Orange gaffes.
↵In a rivalry that’s featured many classic moments, Syracuse’s 34-15 run to close the first half of this contest could become one of the best known.
↵But it all depends on what happens in what’s sure to be a wild second half at the Carrier Dome.
