Particularly when it’s the last football we’ll see for a while and there’s a lot at stake! Who knew?
Turns Out People Really Like Football On Television
↵Seriously, though, even for playoff games, this past weekend drew in a record haul of eyeballs. The numbers, via NFL flack Brian McCarthy’s Twitter feed:
↵↵Jets-Colts on CBS drew 46.9 million viewers, most-watched AFC Championship since Pats-Fins 1/12/86 47.5 million.
↵Vikes-Saints w/ 57.9 million viewers was the most-watched non-Super Bowl TV show since Seinfeld finale -- 76.3m 5/14/98.
↵↵And given the orbital pull of the Manningbot and the media darlinghood of New Orleans, even those lofty stats could be blown away in a couple weeks’ time. Tune in.
