Below are just some quick observation from the North’s day 1 practice.
Dove’s Senior Bowl North Practice Observations Day 1
Taylor Price wide receiver from Ohio University showed some nice speed, reliable hands, and route running ability. He has the ability to really help his draft stock this week.
There were some nice battles in offensive/ defensive line drills. Jared Odrick of Penn State stood out in matchups against Jon Asamoah (Illionis) and Mike Iupati (Idaho). However, Asamoah did hold his own and later showed his ability to reach the 2nd level during team run drills. One concern from Asamoah was that his arm reach measured lower than expected. Unfortunatley, NFL circles are very focused on measurable.
Brandon Graham (Mich) made Ed Wang (VT) look pathetic taking about 1 second to get around him on his way to the towel (quarterback).
Mardy Gilyard (Cinn) didn’t look good today. He dropped several passes, looked slow, and rounded a lot of his routes. Not a good day for a wide receiver that had to show he was capable of running NFL routes.
Kyle Wilson of Boise State look really good today and is a favorite of NFL Network’s Mike Mayock. He has nice size for a cornerback and kept up with the faster wide receivers during one on one drills.
