John Wall And Kentucky Receive An Early Presidential Phone Call

And, no, the season isn’t over with the Wildcats’ ascension to the top spot in the polls on Monday.

↵Back on January 17th, John Calipari and his team did the opposite of what former NBA player Paul Shirley suggested and held a telethon for Haiti relief, one that raised over $1 million. Over $98,000 of that total came from just one lot, dinner with Rupp Arena fixture Ashley Judd.

↵Those efforts led to a phone call from President Barack Obama hours before the Wildcats’ Tuesday night game against South Carolina.

↵After a heartfelt “thank you” for the humanitarian gesture, the conversation did turn to basketball, where Obama cautioned Calipari’s charges against taking it easy now that they’ve reached the top spot in the polls.

↵And like many college basketball fans, the President has been awed by what he’s seen out of the Wildcats’ freshman sensation, John Wall.

↵↵Wall invited Obama to watch Kentucky play in person and suggested a game of “HORSE.”

↵“I’m not going to play horse with you,” Obama replied, “because I don’t want to lose.”

↵The president suggested a friendly pickup game. “I’m going to make sure I have you on my team,” Obama told Wall.

↵↵Quick, someone check the NCAA manual to make sure Presidential approval of a player isn’t a violation!
