SEC Fines South Carolina For The Wrong Thing

Predictably, the University of South Carolina was fined $25,000 for allowing fans to storm the court after the Gamecocks first ever win over a top-ranked team.

↵This isn’t the first time the school has stoked SEC Commissioner Mike Slive’s ire. He fined the school $5,000 when fans rushed the floor after another win over Kentucky, the Wildcats’ 2005 outfit that was then ranked third in the country.

↵So, Mr. Slive, you fine the school for rushing the court twice in the span of five years, but you don’t charge them one red cent for subjecting the people of America to repeated playings of Darude’s “Sandstorm”?

↵

↵Of course, given how frequently that particular dance hit from the year 2000 was played both Tuesday night in Columbia and on January 4th during the College of Charleston’s upset win over North Carolina, I wouldn’t be shocked if more underdogs don’t play it repeatedly in an attempt to drive their opponent bonkers.

↵UPDATE: My friends over at Storming The Floor have a great idea. So that the money is given to those who really need it, flood the SEC’s twitter feed, @SEC_Hoops, requesting that the fine be given to Haiti relief.
