Back in 2001, Michigan and Michigan State met at Spartan Stadium for an outdoor game dubbed the “Cold War.” It drew the largest crowd ever for an ice hockey game of 74,554 and was the inspiration for the Heritage Classic and the Winter Classic. These two teams are going back outdoors next season as they will face off at Michigan Stadium in the “Cold War II.”
Michigan and Michigan State Are Going Back Outdoors
↵Michigan will be taking notes as Wisconsin and Michigan play an outdoor game at Camp Randall Stadium on Feb. 6. Here is what Wisconsin coach Mike Eaves had to say about the game:
↵↵“It’s going to be really exciting,” said Eaves. “We’ve already sold 42,000 tickets and we think it’s realistic that the lower bowl -- 50,000 seats -- will be sold out for the game.”
