Matt McCall to Change from Driver to Engineer at NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (January 28, 2010) - Activ8 Communications client Matt McCall is en route to Irwindale, California to participate in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown set to take place Jan. 29-30 at Toyota Speedway. McCall, 2-time UARA Champion, will not be behind the wheel at the track this weekend, but instead will sit atop the pit box of the No. 11 Lucas Oil Chevrolet to serve as engineer for NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver Jason Patison.

The half-mile banked oval will host the 7th running of the "Daytona 500 of Short-Track Racing." Race features guarantee starting positions to the champions of each NASCAR touring and weekly series, including the NASCAR K&N Pro Series (East and West), NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1, NASCAR Corona Series and thMatt McCalle NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. 2009 winners in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series will also be locked into the race. The remainder of the field will be set with qualifying laps, with limited provisionals for K&N Pro regulars and a last-chance "open" race.

In addition to Showdown qualifiers and races, Toyota Speedway will host a pair of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series races: a 100-lap Super Late Model event on Friday and a 75-lap Late Model event on Saturday. Other at-track activities include a fan-friendly showing of the classic racing movie Days of Thunder, to be shown on a jumbo-screen in the infield.

Several NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers have won the Showdown event in the past, including No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing driver Joey Logano and No. 34 Front Row Motorsports driver David Gilliland. Having a different winner almost every year since the inaugural Showdown brightens McCall's outlook on his team's chances of making into victory lane.

"It's going to be different not getting into the car after the pre-race ceremonies and going out on the track to race," said McCall. "This will be a good change for me to sit up on the pit box and get a different perspective on what I can change as a driver to better communicate when I'm driving. Hopefully it'll be a good thing for Jason too, because I've raced in those cars and know exactly what they feel like. I think we'll put on a good show and hopefully get the win."

While actively seeking sponsorship and continuing his pursuit of driving full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, McCall is excited about what the 2010 season will bring to his racing career. Stay tuned for his plans and aspirations for the upcoming year.
