Fernando Tatis Re-Signs With Mets

Following a day of rumors, we now have confirmation from the NY Post’s Mike Puma: Fernando Tatis will be returning to the Mets.

Fernando Tatis is back with the Mets. The veteran utilityman agreed to a one-year deal today with the team, contingent upon his passing a physical.

The Post first reported yesterday that the two sides were close to a deal.

Tatis will spend much of his time platooning with Daniel Murphy at first base, and will receive a contract very similar to the $1.7m deal he had a year ago. Teams who were interested in Tatis as a utility player, including Seattle and Colorado, may now turn their attention to Melvin Mora as an alternative.
