Murray In The Finals: Scot Defeats Cilic, Awaits Winner Of Federer-Tsonga

Andy Murray will play in his second career grand slam final on Sunday after coming from behind to beat Marin Cilic, 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-2, in a three-hour match Wednesday night. It’s Murray’s first Australian Open final appearance; his other grand slam championship match was at the 2008 US Open, where he lost to Roger Federer.

Murray started cold, losing the first set 3-6 after being broken twice. It was the first set of the tournament the Scot has dropped. But in the second set, Cilic had break point to go up 2-0. And then Murray did this (22 second mark):

That shot turned things around for Murray, who went on to win the next three sets.

For Murray, the win is a bit of redemption. Cilic was the man who knocked him out of last year’s US Open in the fourth round. Although overall, Murray has dominated the Croatian, winning four of their five matches against each other. He now awaits the winning of Federer-Tsonga in the championship match.
