When the Brewers signed Jim Edmonds to a minor league contract, there was speculation that he was brought in for purposes of forming a pseudo-platoon with center fielder Carlos Gomez. Now, via Tim McKernan, we’ve been given a little additional insight:
Jim Edmonds To Get Shot At Regular Playing Time
Edmonds: Brewers told me I'd get a chance to play everyday against right-handers, and I'd get a chance to play when corner OF get days off.
There’s still no guarantee that Edmonds will break camp with the team, as, again, he didn’t sign a Major League deal, but from the sounds of things, if he shows himself capable, he’ll be set to see a lot of action.
