The NFL admitted today that the referees blew a critical call that have changed the outcome of the NFC title game. When Brett Favre was hit making the first of his two interceptions that kept the Saints in the game, he was apparently the victim of a low hit to his legs. Take a look at the video, the play in question is at 3:09:

↵Take away that interception, the Vikings are in the Red Zone with the chance to take the lead, rather than eventually falling behind 21-28. This is of course the downside to asking referees to swallow their whistles during an important game and “let it be decided on the field.” Unless of course you mean the two or three booth reviews overtime. Then you need to get the call right....right?
↵The apology of course does very little to console a certain bearded man in St. Paul, who’s now left to drown his sorrows in a flagon of mead.
↵Ed. note: “flagon of mead?” ... (consults Google) ... That may be the first World of Warcraft reference in SB Nation history
