We were hesitant to classify John Daly’s “I’m done” remark as a retirement announcement. Apparently, Daly agrees. Early Friday morning, Daly explained his comments on Twitter:

In an interview with the Golf Channel, golfer John Daly said Friday that he’s withdrawing from the Farmer’s Insurance Open after a poor start. But he didn’t stop there. The 43-year-old veteran says he is finished with professional golf.
Of course, this is not a formal retirement announcement, and it’s quite possible that the mercurial golfer is simply exhibiting his frustration. As soon as we find out how serious Daly really is, we’ll come back with an update.
