Boston Bruins Lose Sixth Straight In Buffalo, 2-1
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots and Thomas Vanek notched an early game-winner as Buffalo nipped Boston, 2-1, at HSBC Arena.
Henrik Tallinder provided the other score for the Sabres, who have won two in a row after dropping four straight.
Milan Lucic recorded the lone goal for the Bruins, who fell to their sixth consecutive loss and ninth in 10. Tuukka Rask halted 21-of-23 shots in defeat.
Tallinder sent a floating wrister from the left point off Rask’s glove 4:01 into the contest.
Vanek doubled the advantage with 2:28 left in the period and Buffalo on the power play, as he found Chris Butler's shot in the crease and backhanded it home.
Boston finally countered just after the midway point of regulation when Lucic’s shot from a 3-on-2 rush beat Miller to the glove side, but Miller shut the door on five other Bruins shots in the second period.
Miller remained strong in the third period, making 12 saves. He dodged a bullet in the waning seconds as a deflection by Lucic through traffic in the slot bounced on the ice and slid just wide of the right post.
Miller posted his 29th victory, good enough for a third-place tie with Jonathan Quick of the Kings and Roberto Luongo of Vancouver...The Bruins had won the previous two meetings this season, after the Sabres won four of six a year ago.
