Virginia Tech 103, Seton Hall 94 (OT): Hokies Win Thriller In Cancun

January 2, 2010 – Cancun, MX (Sports Network) – Dorenzo Hudson poured in a game-high 41 points to lead the Virginia Tech Hokies to a thrilling, 103-94 overtime victory over the Seton Hall Pirates as part of the Cancun Governor’s Cup challenge at Poliforum De Benito Juarez.

Jeff Allen added a double-double for Virginia Tech (12-1), netting 23 points and collecting 13 rebounds in the win.

Jeremy Hazell led the way for Seton Hall (9-4) with 24 points, while Eugene Harvey tallied 17 points. Robert Mitchell posted 16 points for the Pirates, while Jeff Robinson and John Garcia chipped in with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Robinson also pulled down nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Although the Hokies shot 34.5 percent from the floor in the first half, the team used a 15-of-16 showing from the foul line to take a 37-33 lead into the break.

The Pirates stayed strong however, shooting 48.6 percent from the field in the second stanza, and eventually forced the game into overtime.

In the extra session the Hokies pulled away, shooting 77.8 percent from the field, while also netting 8-of-10 foul shots, en route to the nine-point win.

Virginia Tech made 36-of-43 attempts from the charity stripe in the contest, while Seton Hall connected on just 15-of-20 shots from the foul line.
