Pro Football Talk is reporting that former Steelers coach and current retirement enthusiast Bill Cowher is making calls around the football world in a preliminary effort to put together a coaching staff. Rumors have linked Cowher with the Bills, Buccaneers, and Panthers, and we’ll probably hear a half-dozen other teams discussed before Cowher joins a team (if he does).
Bill Cowher Assembling Staff To Help Coach Hypothetical Team
↵PFT notes:
↵↵But even with Cowher getting ready to return, it remains to be seen whether an NFL team will meet his likely asking price of $10 million per year and surrender the control over the football operation that Cowher covets. It could be that, in order to return for 2010, Cowher will have to compromise on one or both points.
↵↵On top of $10 million and a broad swath of authority over his future team, Cowher has also long declared his unwillingness to coach a franchise that faces the Steelers with any semblance of regularity. Cowher also wants a pony and demands that an NFL Films crew follow him around when he plays golf, does yard work, or eats a cheeseburger. He will get all of these things.
