Barack Obama And Mike Krzyzewski: Not Exactly Kindred Spirits

With Barack Obama officially in the house for Georgetown-Duke, this seems like as good a time as ever to pull up this quote from Mike Krzyzewski from last season.

↵

You’ll remember that Obama was asked to fill out a bracket for ESPN last year, in which he did not pick Duke to make the Final Four. As CBS Sportsline’s Gary Parrish reminds us, Krzyzewski was asked about Obama’s pick. Here’s what Coach K said at the time.

↵↵“Really it doesn’t matter at all what anyone predicts; it’s what you do. Somebody said that we’re not in President Obama’s Final Four. As much as I respect what he’s done, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably, more than the brackets. So why would I care about that?”↵↵If Duke loses today’s game, maybe Coach K will criticize Obama for not focusing on health care enough. Then, a slighted Obama won’t put Duke in his Final Four for his bracket this year, and the feud will continue. I’m so rooting for this.
