Georgetown-Duke Gets All Political: Obama Sits Courtside, Blue Devils Wear Haiti Patches

â†µâ†µThat grainy image from Sports Illustrated’s Stewart Mandel? Gone. Now we have better-quality proof that President Barack Obama sat courtside at today’s Georgetown-Duke game. Vice President Joe Biden joined him, and you can see that in the slideshow, too. No word on if they chatting about taking on the BCS. â†µâ†µThat’s only part of the politics of that game, though. Duke’s got yellow patches on that say “Save Haiti”; they’re part of a group that includes a slew of other sports stars raising awareness for that charity. The coaches have sneakers on for cancer awareness. And the Post article notes that the Blue Devils and Hoyas are teaming up to raise money for Darfur.â†µ

â†µâ†µAlso, because the Grammys are tomorrow night on CBS, all of the music being used for bumpers and such in this game is Grammy-nominatedThat may be the most political thing of all. It’s at least the most grating: The Black Eyed Peas’ music has been involved.â†µ

â†µObama called Craig Kellogg “the best color man on TV,” and also said he would be coming for Kellogg’s job after he gets done governing the country. When asked by Verne Lundquist about how being a lefty impacted his ability to go right, Obama responded, “I went to the Republican House caucus yesterday to prove I could go to my right once in a while.”â†µâ†µ(Video via Buster Sports.)â†µ
