Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - Cole Aldrich ended with 18 points and 11 rebounds and came up with a huge offensive carom late in overtime, as No. 2 Kansas pulled out a thrilling 81-79 victory over 11th-ranked Kansas State at a raucous Bramlage Coliseum.

Sherron Collins, battling back and knee issues, scored 16 points and hit a critical basket while being fouled with 9.2 seconds left in the extra session.

With Kansas ahead 79-76 after the make, Collins had a chance to ice the game at the free throw line but was short on the attempt.

Aldrich, playing with four fouls for much of the second half, grabbed the offensive board and Brady Morningstar, who scored 14 points, sealed the victory at the stripe for the Jayhawks' (20-1, 6-0 Big 12) sixth straight win since losing to Tennessee on January 10, a setback that dropped them from the top spot in the poll.

Kansas will likely regain the top ranking in the country on Monday, as current No. 1 Kentucky suffered its first loss of the season earlier in the week.

Jacob Pullen ended with 22 points for the Wildcats (17-4, 4-3), who have dropped two of three since toppling then-top-ranked Texas on January 18.

Denis Clemente added 13 points, while Wally Judge had 10 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.
