Can You Get An Olympic Team Inside The NHL Salary Cap

With the addition of the NHL salary cap in 2005, NHL teams have had to balance their salaries and their roster to make sure that they comply with the hard cap that the league has imposed. The Olympic rosters, though, are a collection of the best players in the country. If an NHL team tried to compose this roster, how badly over the cap would they be. The community over at our Sharks site, Fear The Fin, broke down the rosters of many of the Olympic countries and this is some of what they found:

↵↵Team Canada

↵ROSTER SIZE 23
TEAM CAP NUMBER $127,966,666
CAP SPACE $-71,166,666
Team Slovakia

↵ROSTER SIZE 13
TEAM CAP NUMBER $44,175,000
CAP SPACE $12,625,000

↵↵Obviously it is hard to compose a team of all superstars and keep the team under the salary cap. Being over by $71 million though is fairly impressive though.
