I’m Going To Start Calling ‘Ice Water’ By Its New Name, ‘Andrew Goudelock’

My favorite college basketball site is The Mid-Majority. One of the features that Kyle and Damon highlight over there is the Red-Line Upset, wins by mid-majors over the bigger, richer schools. Tonight, the College of Charleston joined this list by pulling off the biggest upset of the year, knocking off ninth-ranked North Carolina, 82-79 in overtime.

The Cougars don’t get to the extra session, however, if Andrew Goudelock doesn’t hit this clutch shot with 2.1 ticks left in regulation.

And that wasn’t the only big shot Goudelock made. He scored 24 on the night, hitting 10 of his 20 field goal attempts. Unfortunately, he wasn’t on the court for the final moments of overtime and the subsequent celebration, thanks to a late thigh cramp.

This isn’t the first time the Cougars have toppled the Heels either, as they knocked off UNC in 1998 and 2001. Both those wins came under legendary head coach John Kresse.

On this night, another famous name led the Cougars. Former Georgia Tech head man Bobby Cremins is in his fourth season in charge in the The Palmetto City. This victory is the biggest for the program in that span.
