It only seems like a matter of hours time before Skins owner Daniel Snyder introduces Mike Shanahan as the team’s new head coach. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that after the preliminary talks between Shanahan and the Skins’ brass last night, Shanahan called his agent Sandy Montag to the nation’s capital to negotiate a contract. Montag reportedly arrived in Washington on Tuesday morning, and will meet with new Redskins GM Bruce Allen in the afternoon, again according to Schefter.
Mike Shanahan’s Agent Reportedly Set To Negotiate Contract With Redskins
Given that Montag was reportedly in Snyder’s luxury box for Washington’s game against the Giants two weeks ago, and Shanahan has long been rumored to be the Skins’ top choice as head coach, this latest news is hardly surprising. Still, there had been a school of thought that Shanahan would at least wait until next weekend to make up his mind to see if the Cowboys job opened up in the case that they lose their wildcard game. Apparently not.
We’ll keep you updated on any word out of Redskins Park on Shanahan’s status.
