Since the Orange Bowl dominates Tuesday night’s college sports schedule, the college hoops schedule is pretty light. But four games on the television schedule deserve some attention.
Tuesday College Hoops: No. 2 Texas And No. 4 Purdue Hope To Avoid Upset Bug
- Second-ranked Texas visits Arkansas for the second straight season. This time, the Longhorns would like to avenge the stunning 67-61 loss they suffered at the hands of the Razorbacks almost exactly one year ago.
- No. 4 Purdue, fresh off a huge win over eighth-ranked West Virginia on New Year’s Day, hosts Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are 2-0 in the Big Ten, thanks to wins over Penn State and Iowa. A trip to Mackey Arena will be a completely different test, however.
- In other Big Ten action, Illinois, a team licking their wounds after losing an overtime thriller against Gonzaga Saturday, hosts an Iowa team in search of its first conference win.
- Mountain West play starts Tuesday night with a big one. New Mexico has jumped up to 15th in this week’s AP poll, and they start their league slate at dangerous San Diego State. Sadly, this is a matchup many won’t be able to see, as it airs on The Mountain network. However, you’ll be able to discuss the game over at the Mountain West Connection.
