If you’re a fan of an NFL team with a grievance to air to the ownership, there is but one medium of communication open to you. Don’t e-mail, don’t call anyone, don’t pass out flyers or bother a radio show host.

NFL Fans Singlehandedly Keeping Billboard Industry Afloat

↵↵Get yourself a billboard and thy will be done.↵At least that seems to be the reasoning among restive NFL fanbases. Bengals fans, Redskins fans, Bears fans, Raiders fans -- they all want a piece of the billboard action.↵
↵↵Buffalo fans already did it once in order to successfully lobby for the firing of head coach Dick Jauron. Now they’re imposing their will again via giant roadside signage, this time to advocate for Bill Cowher to be the team’s next coach.↵
↵
↵The site Buffalo Sports Daily raised the $1,125 (all surplus funds go to Jim Kelly's "Hunter's Hope" foundation) necessary to erect a billboard along Interstate 190 downtown. The billboard, which will go up Jan. 11, reads "Buffalo Fans Want Bill Cowher."↵
↵↵Whether or not the Buffalo billboards will maintain their track record of success seems unlikely at the moment. There are only scant rumors being floated that Cowher is the most likely candidate for the Bills. So far other possible candidates mentioned include former Ravens coach Brian Billick, former Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.↵
