The McDonald’s H-O-R-S-E Ads Are Coming Back
↵
↵... and this time, we’ll have LeBron James and Dwight Howard to go with Larry Bird. (No Michael Jordan, unfortunately.) Details via the Cleveland Plain Dealer:↵↵⇥On Monday, James flew to Indianapolis and spent the day shooting a commercial with Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard and Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird. It is believed that the commercial is for McDonald’s and is planned to run during the Super Bowl, which would signify a significant new sponsorship opportunity for James.↵⇥↵⇥Indiana Pacers fan blog Indy Cornrows reported the spot was filmed at Conseco Fieldhouse and that it is a throwback to a famous Bird commercial with Michael Jordan where the stars played a game of H-O-R-S-E. Jordan and Bird first debuted the spot on Super Bowl coverage in 1993 as they fought over a Big Mac and fries, creating and then hitting numerous impossible shots and adding “nothin’ but ‘net” at the end. ↵⇥
↵↵↵Because this thing is supposed to air during the Super Bowl, I’ve got unreasonably high hopes for it. The downside: I’ll be at the Super Bowl in Miami, so I won’t get to see it. Oh, that’s not really a downside I guess.↵
↵↵It only makes sense that these two would link up in this ad. As Nate Jones pointed out, Dwight Howard has some skills from half court. Ditto for LeBron James.↵
↵↵Evidence of those skills after the jump. ↵
