There’s no surprise at the top of the final AP college football top 25 rankings. The AP decided to stick with the BCS champion (Alabama) as its No. 1 team, which it has done every year the BCS has existed except for 2003, when USC took the top spot in the AP poll despite LSU winning the BCS Championship Game.
Final AP College Football Rankings: Where The Little Guys Get Picked On Again
The surprise comes a bit lower in the rankings this year. Undefeated Boise State finishes ranked fourth, behind one-loss Texas and Florida. It’s true that Texas and Florida’s only losses were to Alabama, but to rank an undefeated team fourth just seems ... odd. Boise State beat previously-undefeated TCU in the Fiesta Bowl and easily took care of Rose Bowl participant Oregon earlier in the season, so it’s not like they played a cupcake schedule.
Speaking of TCU, they fell to sixth, behind Ohio State, who didn’t have one marquee non-conference win (edit: in the regular season). But Ohio State did win their bowl, which of course is all that matters ... unless you’re Boise State.
