Baylor Blows Oklahoma Off The National Radar

Lost amid all of the top 15 upsets and close games on a cold January Saturday was an interesting score out of the Big 12.

↵Baylor 91, Oklahoma 60

↵That’s no joke. The Sooners, who already had losses to VCU, San Diego, Houston, UTEP and Gonzaga, dropped their sixth game of the first year of the post-Blake Griffin era. Willie Warren may be a candidate for national honors, but his supporting cast hasn’t been anywhere near good enough to keep OU relevant this season. This may very well be the last time you see me talk about them in this space in 2010. But that could very well change if Tiny Gallon destroys another backboard.

↵Meanwhile, Baylor, who features block machine Ekpe Udoh, a Michigan transfer, is now 13-1 and a definite team to watch. The win was the Bears’ first over the Sooners since 1977, and their first since Big 12 play started in the 1996-97 academic year.

↵With the way both teams are playing at the moment, Baylor may not have to wait 33 years to beat Oklahoma again.
