T.J. Lavin Is In A Medically Induced Coma After BMX Accident

BMX star and TV host T.J. Lavin is in a medically induced coma after missing an attempted trick and suffering a hard fall at a Las Vegas event, according to TMZ. Lavin, who you may know better as the longtime host of MTV’s Real World/ Road Rules Challenge, is in a Las Vegas hospital today and is listed in critical condition. He is believed to have severe brain swelling from the impact, a dangerous condition that precipitated the coma induction by attending doctors.

↵Lavin was attempting a nic nac, a move where a rider throws one leg over the opposite side of the bike, when his feet missed the pedals on landing. The major injury has been called “a small brain bleed,” a condition where “small” does nothing to counter the severity of the words that follow it. Morning CT Scans showed no improvement in the swellig, but they didn’t get worse, either. For the moment his condition is described as stable.
