There are many ways a coach or GM can try and motivate a team to do what they want. From bag skates to benching players to switching lines, most times coaches are the ones that try and get the message across. Not often do you hear about a GM trying to make moves with his team to get the team to wake up. In this case though, this is what Senators GM Bryan Murry is trying to do. From Senators Extra:
Senators GM Tries To Inspire Team With Threat Of Trade To Minnesota

↵"I've talked to a number of people, as I said," he went on. "I talked to (Minnesota Wild general manager) Chuck Fletcher for a long time yesterday and said, ‘can I help you, you help me' type of thing, so we're talking to management of other teams, trying to find if there is a need and a possibility of making a move.
↵"That's not always the solution, but I think it's something that maybe sends a little message to our players, so we will continue to pursue something."

↵Now, there are a few things to consider here. First, is Murray insinuating that Minnesota is a bad place to play? Second, wouldn’t a team like Edmonton be a more effective team to scare your players into shape? Bryan Murray and Minnesota GM Chuck Fletcher are long time associates and both teams have struggled to start the season, so a deal between the two teams would make sense but at this point though, it will never happen.
