In Progress: LeBron, Heat Host Magic In Home Opener
Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Heat showed what they are capable of against an Eastern Conference powerhouse, as Dwyane Wade led the way with 26 points in a thorough 96-70 drubbing of the Orlando Magic in their home opener at American Airlines Arena.
After a loss in Boston and a lackluster win in Philadelphia to start the season, Miami displayed a dominating defense that held the usually potent Magic to 4-of-24 shooting from behind the arc.
LeBron James had 15 points, seven assists and six boards, Udonis Haslem netted 11 points and Chris Bosh scored 11 to go with 10 boards in the resounding victory.
Dwight Howard battled foul trouble in the second half and finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for Orlando, which pounded Washington in its season opener on Thursday.
Jameer Nelson had 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting, as Orlando shot 30.4 percent overall in the setback.
