NFL Week 8, Scores And Results: Packers Stymie Jets In 9-0 Win
Green Bay recorded its first road shutout since 1991, and Mason Crosby kicked three field goals to lift the Packers past the Jets, 9-0.
Mark Sanchez struggled with the swirling Meadowlands winds all day, throwing two interceptions and completing just 16 of his 38 throws. Jets coach Rex Ryan helped doom his team, too, challenging two first-half plays unsuccessfully and burning the Jets' two opportunities for review before a questionable and pivotal interception by Charles Woodson in the second half.
Neither team did all that much on offense, but Green Bay won the turnover battle, forcing three and committing none. And that enabled Aaron Rodgers to drive the Packers into field goal range despite a nearly nonexistent running game and a bad day throwing the ball.
The win moves the Packers to 5-3 and sole possession of the NFC North lead, and drops the Jets to 5-2 and out of the driver’s seat in the AFC East.
