Wednesday Night Frights: UAB Vs. UCF, 8:00 PM

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Ronnie Weaver rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, as the UCF Knights dominated the UAB Blazers, 42-7, in a Conference-USA bout at Bright House Networks Stadium.

Freshman quarterback Jeffrey Godfrey completed 9-of-11 passes for 137 yards for the Knights (3-2, 1-0 C-USA), who have won eight of their last 10 games in Orlando. Godfrey also carried the ball nine times for 80 yards.

Jamar Newsome caught three passes for 68 yards for UCF, which has claimed seven of the eight games in this series, including a 34-27 decision last November at UAB. Brian Watters hauled in three passes for 35 yards and a score.

Bryan Ellis connected on 14-of-30 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions for the Blazers (1-4, 0-2), who have dropped eight of their last 10 contests away from home. David Isabelle completed 1-of-3 passes and rushed for 62 yards on 12 carries.

Patrick Hearn led the receiving corps with five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Ellis was intercepted by Kemal Ishmael on the Blazers' first possession of the game. Ishmael returned the ball 12 yards to the UAB 23. Weaver scampered into the end zone from four yards out on the third play to make it 7-0.

The Blazers got the ball to the UCF 27 early in the second quarter. However, Josh Zahn missed a 44-yard field goal.

The Knights added to their lead later in the period. Weaver capped a six-play, 53-yard drive with a two-yard score for a 14-0 margin with 2:38 left until half.

UCF lost Godfrey to an injury on its next possession. Faced with a 3rd-and-5 from the UAB 34, Godfrey took a shot to the head after running for 12 yards. Rob Calabrese took over and finished the first half with a four-yard TD pass to Watters for a 21-0 lead. Godfrey returned to the contest in the third quarter.

Isabelle fumbled to start the second half. Josh Robinson recovered the football for UCF and returned it 56 yards for a touchdown.

Ellis and Hearn hooked up on a 23-yard score on the ensuing UAB possession to make it a 28-7 game.

In the fourth period, Latavius Murray scored on a nine-yard rushing play and Troy Davis returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown.
