Cody Zeller, Scout.com’s No. 16 high school basketball prospect in the 2011 class, has decided to stay home: the power forward announced Thursday that he has committed to play at Indiana.
Cody Zeller Commits To Play Basketball At Indiana
Zeller, a 6-foot-9 forward from Washington (Ind.) High School, was deciding between Indiana, Butler and North Carolina, but ultimately chose the Hoosiers because of “the players and the coaches.”
“I think I can get along with the players pretty well and coach [Tom] Crean seems to be rebuilding the school pretty well, but also the business school is ranked real high.”
Zeller, one of the 20 best seniors in the country, was the last uncommitted player from Scout.com’s top 25. Cody is third Zeller to play basketball collegiately: his oldest brother, Luke, played at Notre Dame, and Tyler is a junior on North Carolina’s team. Both Luke and Tyler were Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Basketball winners.
In addition to Cody Zeller, Indiana has also landed his AAU teammate and four-star prospect Austin Etherington, the No. 17 nationally ranked recruit.
“Growing up in the state I think it‘ll mean a lot to play in the state and represent the state,” Zeller said. “I think we’ll have a good team.”
Last season, as a junior, Zeller led Washington to a state title while averaging 20.5 points and 11 rebounds per game.
