Dan Persa Injury: Northwestern QB Leaves Game After Throwing Go-Ahead Touchdown

During Saturday's Northwestern-Iowa game, Northwestern star quarterback Dan Persa suffered an injury in the final minutes. Down 17-14, Persa mounted a drive that ended with a go-ahead touchdown pass, but after the play, Persa fell to the ground and grabbed his right leg.

Strangely, Persa was not knocked down during the play; he was barely, if at all, touched by an Iowa defender. It appeared as though someone may have stepped on his right foot.

During the play, Persa put the Wildcats in position for a big win over a Big Ten rival, but Persa’s injury is certainly cause for concern. Persa has had a monster day, throwing for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. The severity or exact nature of the injury is not yet known; we’ll update as soon as we learn more.
