Chaminade Leads Oklahoma Late In Second Half, Eyes Another Maui Invitational Upset

In 1982, Chaminade scored an upset for the ages when it knocked off then-No. 1 Virginia, led by Ralph Sampson and Rick Carlisle. Twenty-eight years later, they may just do it again.

The Chaminade Silverswords (yep), the host-school of the Maui Invitational, took a 33-30 into the half against the Oklahoma Sooners Wednesday a the 2010 Maui Invitational, in a game that will determine seventh pace at the famous preseason tournament. It's getting late in the second half, and Chaminade has a slim lead over the Big 12's Sooners.

Chaminade is a Division II school that competes in the Pacific West Conference (when they pulled off the upset of UVA back in 1982, Chaminade was still just a member of the NAIA). As such, the Silverswords are the only non-Division I school that competes in the Maui Invitational.
