Great news for Dortmund fans was announced on Thursday in the form of a new contract being signed by current manager Jurgen Klopp. Klopp, who has Dortmund flying high and on top of the Bundesliga table, has extended his current deal until 2014 which will see him equal the six year reign that Ottmar Hitzfeld enjoyed in the 1990’s.
Jurgen Klopp Signs New Contract At Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund’ s executive director Hans-Joachim Watzke was quoted as saying:
“You shouldn’t split up two things which belong together, so we extended the coaches contract yesterday evening”.
Klopp was obviously delighted at the news as he continues to build a powerfully balanced squad that is seeking their first Bundesliga title since 2001-02 and their fourth overall:
“I’m incredibly happy about the trust that the club has shown me and my training team and I’m very proud to be a part of the whole thing”.
Dortmund, now seven points clear of second place Mainz, face bottom of the table Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. Led by Lucas Barrios and Nuri Sahin, Dortmund have won four of their last five matches and look to be favorites to win the Bundesliga this season.
