Vincent Jackson Leaves Game With Calf Injury, Will Not Return

So it turns out that staying away from NFL-caliber football for more than half of a season is probably not a great thing for a player’s chances of staying healthy.

Vincent Jackson suffered a calf injury early in tonight's Chargers-Colts, and will not return.

That brings the first action Jackson has seen in 2010 to an abrupt end. He had missed the Chargers' first 10 games of the season during a holdout that ended in late October, then served a three-game suspension for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Jackson was thought to have become available at a fortuitous time for the Chargers, who have been racked by injury at wide receiver all season and are without Patrick Crayton and Antonio Gates tonight. Obviously, Jackson's injury changes that: Rivers has had to make do with Malcolm Floyd, Legedu Naanee, and Seyi Ajirotutu against the Colts.
